It showcases pleasing vintage design with a distinctive Florentine bezel and ultra thin dress style. Its classic and simple understated silver dial and hands, give it a fashionable yet timelessly elegant vintage look.
Just as fine on the inside as it is on the outside, the watch is powered by Audemars Piguet's legendary extra-flat caliber 2003 movement, co-developed with Vacheron & Constantin.
Released in 1946 the minuscule movement was a true feat of technical engineering. It is the thinnest movement ever created for a normal size watch, measuring a mere 1.64mm!
To honor the achievement Vacheron & Constantin presented personalized examples to several key Heads of State including President Dwight Eisenhower. Only a few luxury watches in the following decades would lay claim to this movement earning them reputations as masterpieces of twentieth-century watchmaking.
Like many dress watches from the era, though it originally was a mens watch, it is a unisex size by today's standards. It measures 26mm in diameter without the crown.
We were fortunate to acquire it in superior condition appearing to have spent most of its life stored away. It is all-original down to its original band and buckle and does not appear to have been polished.
The case is in better than near mint condition. It retains perfect lines. Its untouched original dial shows only slight natural aging.
One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it making it ready for immediate enjoyment. The movement is very clean and keeping very accurate time
Accompanying the watch are its original box and an Extract from the Audemars Piguet Archives which costs 500CHF (approx. just over $550 USD) to obtain attesting to it authenticity and originality.
Included with the purchase is a one-year international warranty on the movement and its function and a new timing certificate
